Mini Karate is a karate-based program that caters to children as young as 3. Developed to be age-appropriate, engaging, and fun, Mini Karate is an introduction to Martial Arts and the long-term benefits that can be gained through the study and practice of Karate & other Martial Arts.

A typical class will start (and finish) with a bow, followed by a warm-up. Students then work on the assigned skills and drills for that class. With the class goals and learning outcomes supported using age-appropriate techniques, we use well-known songs and action rhymes that have been modified to relate to the relevant class/drill. This technique is very helpful in engaging children and assisting them with recalling learned skills. Games are also played that focus on developing a desired skill or technique, with one of the most popular games played being 'Karate in the Jungle' - an obstacle course that requires the children to use and recall techniques learned throughout the class.

Essentially, Mini Karate is a fun way for all children to achieve fitness and focus. Experts have said, "it is the respect kids learn, whether it is from bowing or standing still waiting for the next command, that can be the most important benefit, it often carries over into school, helping to improve behaviour and even grades."

It is often believed that martial arts promote violence, however, the martial arts philosophy promotes respect, courtesy, self-control, self-discipline, and scocialisation skills. Many parents whose children have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) report great success with martial arts programs because self-control & concentration are exactly the skills underdeveloped in ADHD kids.
